June 5 , 2006: Josephine Mauskopf of RTI Health Solutions (RTI-HS) received a research excellence award given by the International Society for Pharmacoeconomics & Outcomes Research (ISPOR) when the organization held its international meeting May 20-24 in Philadelphia.
Mauskopf received the ISPOR Research Excellence Award for Practical Application Excellence, which recognizes a peer-reviewed research paper that is likely to have practical consequences for health care decision makers.
ISPOR selected Mauskopf for the distinction as senior author of the research paper, “HIV Antiretroviral Treatment: Early versus Later,” which appeared in the Journal of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome in 2005.
“To put this award in context, the ISPOR gives only two research excellence awards each year, one for methodology and one for practical application,” Vice President for Health Solutions Allen Mangel noted.
“Jo continues to work tirelessly to support Health Solutions and the health community --including through her professional authorship activities -- and this honor is appropriately bestowed on her.”
Mauskopf, who serves as vice president for Health Economics within RTI-HS, is one of RTI’s most highly published authors.
The other authors on the HIV paper included Mari Kitahata (Center for AIDS and STD, Harborview Medical Center, University of Washington) Teresa Kauf (Duke Clinical Research Institute), Anke Richter (RTI-HS) and Jerry Tolson (GlaxoSmithKline).
