Stephanie Earnshaw, PhD, Global Head of Health Economics (US), and Stephen Beard, MsC, Global Head of Health Economics and European Operations together will give a presentation at the 2008 INFORMS Conference on Operations Research Practice. The conference focus is on applying science to the art of business and exploring how to deploy power analytics for competitive advantages. The meeting will be held April 13-15, 2008 at the Marriott Waterfront Hotel in Baltimore, Maryland.
Earnshaw and Beard’s talk will focus on pharmaceutical reimbursements. Below is a description of the session, which will be held Tuesday, April 15th at 9:10AM.
Abstract: With healthcare expenditures on the rise, evaluating a pharmaceutical product’s economic characteristics is as important as evaluating its safety and efficacy. In today’s environment, many health care payers require economic evaluations of these products to demonstrate their value for money to support eventual reimbursement. In this session, Earnshaw and Beard will review the current environment for supporting reimbursement of pharmaceutical products using decision-analytic modeling techniques. They will explore current practices in economic evaluation and multinational guidelines for performing these evaluations, specifically concepts around basic analyses of cost-effectiveness and budget impact which are standard analyses used for supporting reimbursement. They will also offer examples of decision analytic models that have been used to support reimbursement.
Please contact Dr. Earnshaw or Mr. Beard if you plan to attend any of the conference and would like to pre-arrange or if you interested in learning more about this topic.
