RTI Health Solutions (RTI-HS) is pleased to announce the promotion of Susana Perez-Gutthann, MD, MPH, PhD, FISPE, FRCP to Vice President and Global Head of Epidemiology.
Since joining RTI-HS earlier this year as Head of Epidemiology Europe, Dr. Perez-Gutthann has been responsible for opening and managing the RTI-HS office in Barcelona, Spain and providing leadership on epidemiology, risk management, and drug safety work in Europe and North America. Prior to joining RTI-HS, Dr. Perez-Gutthann served as Senior Director, Global Epidemiology for Pfizer’s Worldwide Safety and Risk Management group and as Senior Director, Head of Global Epidemiology for Pharmacia. Earlier in her career, she held senior safety and epidemiology positions for Novartis and Ciba-Geigy including Global Head of Epidemiology. Dr. Perez-Gutthann holds medical and doctoral degrees from the University of Barcelona, and a Master of Public Health with a concentration in epidemiology from Johns Hopkins University.
Dr. Perez-Gutthann has 17 years of experience in research-driven multinational pharmaceutical companies, developing and leading teams of epidemiologists and driving strategy and research programs for safety, pharmacovigilance, risk management, and regulatory activities applying public health and epidemiological methods. "With her astute leadership skills, broad industry expertise, and impeccable academic credentials, Susana is uniquely qualified to grow our international pharmacoepidemiology and risk management activities, and lead one of the largest independent epidemiology teams in the sector," said Dr. Allen Mangel, RTI-HS Senior Vice President. "I welcome her to the RTI-HS senior leadership team."
Dr. Perez-Gutthann is an active leader and past president of the International Society of Pharmacoepidemiology (ISPE). She is a Fellow of ISPE and of the Royal College of Physicians, Edinburgh. She is often invited to speak and chair conferences and symposia, which have recently included the International Society of Pharmacovigilance meeting, Australian National Prescribing Service Symposium, Asian Pacific Regulatory Safety Sciences Meeting, International Conference of Pharmacoepidemiology & Risk Management, and World Congress of Pharmacology and Clinical Therapeutics. Dr. Perez-Gutthann is also and an advisor to and member of several international organizations and working groups, and has authored or co-authored over 50 journal articles, books, and book chapters.
